‘When I was six years old we moved house and our next door neighbour had Vitiligo which I found fascinating. After FRECKLES the general consensus was to produce another series on skin and whilst on a job began research into Vitiligo as its graphic appearance seemed to compliment the ongoing work. VITILIGO became the next body of work attracting 0ver 4,000 applications and subjects from across the globe including Austria, Australia, Brazil, Colombia, Denmark, Finland, Ghana, Germany, India, Israel, Italy, Mexico, The Netherlands, Russia, Spain, Sweden, Trinidad & Tobago, UK, U.S. and Wales all prepared to travel and be part of the growing body-positive awareness movement. VITILIGO as a physical exhibition is our next goal.’

“I had an immense feeling of liberation after my shoot with Brock, for over 40 years I had hidden my vitiligo and was encouraged to finally be my true self after seeing the incredible subjects who had showcased their uniqueness throughout the Vitiligo series. It was both an honour and a life changing experience to have been fortunate enough to take part.”

WHY DO WE DO WHAT WE DO

We have all at one time felt misunderstood, maybe alone, or a little different from the crowd and this is normal, whatever ‘normal’ is?

At the age of fourteen I wanted to be a photographer after realising I was not going to be a professional footballer!

Now as I head towards fifty, I still want to be a photographer but build on this past decades hard work and document humankind to simply celebrate diversity and educate the public, whilst giving individuals a platform to share their journeys and inspire others like them.

So we have formed The Brock Elbank Foundation to work alongside individuals, other organisations and charities to document and exhibit portrait series to show the beauty in diversity from a cross the globe.
