The Brock Elbank Foundation sees diversity as a strength and the spine of all work that we proudly produce.
Over the past decade people have kindly travelled from six continents, and well over fifty countries to be documented for Beard, Freckles, Vitiligo, CMN and Scars.
All of these inspiring individuals took the big step to be part of something that has resonated with thousands of people on social media.
All who apply and take part of more than often seriously stepping out of their comfort zone for the first time, to see themselves in a different light, a more positive light.
“I remember at the beginning of all this saying that for BEARD we would have to shoot the entire series at my home which was in Warwickshire at the time. People said I was mad and that nobody would travel, let alone to Warwickshire. Five portrait series later and over five hundred subjects later, we can proudly say that six continents and over fifty countries and kindly made their way to our home to share their experiences.”
— Brock Elbank
‘Why Freckles?’
Why not?! Freckles to me are like a finger print, no two faces are ever the same, not even identical twins, which I documented as my daughter’s best friends so happened to be twins!

“If as a child or teenager I’d had this visual reference to view and absorb I would have had less of a difficult time during those lost years, just knowing there were ‘others’ out there just like me…”
— JW - England
‘I felt beautiful and empowered by this series. Reading the comments moved me with how others felt empowered and inspired to share own personal stories. I could go on and on with how I’ve heard others respond to this series it’s been so beautiful.’
— Margaret - U. S. A.
‘The effect of post Portrait series has sprung a chain of love: who has learned to love and accept themselves and who with respect has read the incredible stories of life. To me, that is the true essence of beauty.’
— Carlotta - Italy
‘
Responses were and still are incredible, his portrait he did I hold close to my heart. I’d go as far as to say it changed my life, giving me a perspective I never had. Allowing others to gain perspective of their own Vitiligo beauty they never realised they have.’
— Shankar - England

Being a subject of Brock Elbank’s Scars Portrait Series was a much needed catalyst to my path of healing from chronic pain, depression, and a broken spirit. Brock is more than an incredible photographer and story teller - he is an ambassador for the best traits we as humans possess which in my opinion is love, empathy and compassion (and an infectious sense of humor).
I was blessed with new friends, supporters, and contacts with increased community but also had doors open that I never could have imagined. I found new heroes and heroines in the community he has photographed, and on top of all that a dear friend across the pond.
With love, D’
‘Brock’s portraits made visible the part of me that I’ve been most afraid to reveal, and in doing so helped me realize that it’s actually one of the things I’m most proud of.
Also: Being on the other side of Brock’s lens was deeply empowering and profoundly healing — the experience helped me realize that my scars can be a source of pride and celebration rather than shame or fear.
People still stare when they see my scars, but now I can smile back with confidence, knowing that they are evidence of my power, not my broken

‘There are few people who come into your life and make such a remarkable impact and Brock is one of them.
I said ‘these photo had never made me feel more beautiful’, but it goes far deeper that. Its not just the photos which left just lasting impressions, it was the entire experience.
We spent hours talking, sharing my experience and it was then, for one the few times in my life I left so fully seen and understood.’
